Barton North Residence

Location: Ann Arbor, MI Status: Completed in 2020

InToto studio performed architectural design services for this major renovation and addition on a beautiful, wooded site outside of Ann Arbor, MI. The design takes advantage of views into the trees and across the rolling topography, bringing the outside in. The design utilizes the existing basement and foundation, with limited addition space, while completely transforming the home. The street facade and base are clad in brick, relating to the original house, while the rest of the exterior is clad with Corten steel that has an earthy tone that both contrasts and complements the surrounding greenery. The figural piece is a two-story wine display, utilizing reclaimed walnut wood.
