Located in Northeast Detroit, the Farwell Recreation Center Gymnasium addition provides space for new community-based activities and sports programs for residents. Despite the district's higher-than-average youth population density, the existing center is mostly used by seniors due to a lack of facilities to provide sports activities and youth-centered programming. The new addition accommodates multi-sports activities such as basketball, pickleball, and volleyball, creating an inviting recreation center that encourages the community to use the center for sports, educational, and art programs, and community gatherings.
