Porter’s Place- Community Space

The Ann Arbor Housing Commission, on behalf of its non-profit, the Ann Arbor Housing Development Corporation, and the Community Leadership Council, engaged InToto Studio to design a 2,200 SF community and cultural space within a development that includes low-income housing at 121 Catherine, Ann Arbor, Michigan. The public purpose of the first-floor space is to commemorate, educate, and celebrate the history and legacy of the historically Black neighborhood; support local artists and entrepreneurs; and provide a welcoming community space for all residents. In support of the project objectives, the community space is designed to be flexible and accommodate various concurrent activities such as arts and crafts, large and small meeting spaces, lectures, and performances.
